Science Cabaret presents Paul McEuen

It's time for the Science Cabaret series kick-off. Please join us for a special Sunday cabaret brought to you by the Sciencenter:

SMALL IS ALL: Nano, Bio, and the Future of Technology

Come early for a pre-cabaret happy hour, nano art, and music by DJ Laika at 6:00pm.

Cornell scientist Paul McEuen from the Department of Physics will explore the world of nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology will revolutionize our future, much as information technology has changed our lives in the past 50 years. From the mundane (pants that don't stain) to the cutting edge (new ways of fighting disease), this emerging field of science will eventually permeate all aspects of our lives. Paul McEuen will talk about the excitement and challenges facing us in a nano future.

The Sciencenter is a hands-on science museum for people of all ages with more than 200 exhibits, educational programs, a seasonal 18-hole miniature golf course, and outdoor Emerson Science Park. Plan your visit at www.sciencenter.org and get ready to look, touch, listen and discover.

Ithaca's Science Cabaret was inspired by the Café Scientifique movement, which started in Europe in the late 1990s and has spread rapidly. Cafés Scientifiques are informal talks in bars, cafes and other public venues that give like-minded people a chance to discuss current and sometimes controversial topics in science. In Ithaca we meet one Tuesday a month at the Lost Dog Café on 112 South Cayuga St. The Ithaca Science Cabaret is organized by local professors, graduate students and members of the Ithaca community.

Science Cabaret is open to anyone and everyone. While not all topics may be of interest to children, they are welcome to attend.

Bring your appetite for food, drinks and knowledge!

WELCOME TO THE LOST DOG CAFÉ ITHACA!

The café has been described as funky, fun, eclectic, and unique offering a comfortable, casual atmosphere with a little extra for anyone looking for something different from the norm.

The Lost Dog Cafe was started in 1994 by a couple of displaced NYC East Village "Cafe Junkies" in Binghamton, NY.  Our first incarnation was furnished on a Shoestring budget in an old garage with mismatched tables & chairs.  Our love of good food, good people and a strong sense of community served as our inspiration.  We moved to our current home at 222 Water Street, Binghamton, New York in 1997.

Some of us found Cayuga Lake, the Finger Lakes Region in general, and Ithaca in particular, too beautiful to resist and officially made it our home.  With us comes the Lost Dog Cafe!  We offer Ithaca innovative food prepared with fresh ingredients & vegetable stock (no MSG or chemicals) made to order.  It has taken over a year to transform the former Morris Men’s Clothing Store into a restaurant.  The Lost Dog Cafe Ithaca has been a labor of love - we hope you enjoy it.

All seating is based on a first come/first serve basis.  If you do have to wait, don’t fret!  Enjoy a warm cappuccino or refreshing herbal tea in the cozy lounge area.  At the coffee bar you will find a wide variety of delicious coffee and tea drinks made to order.  On your way to an all-nighter?  Mama’s Racehorse will do the trick... four (that’s 4!) hits of espresso guaranteed to “keep you shakin’ from 8am to 2pm”.  The bar also serves a variety of wines, imported beers and microbrews.

Love our food and want to share it?  Catering and private parties are available upon request.

Be sure to give our guestbook a sign before you leave... and come on down and see us in person real soon!
